Open Your Eyes

Oh dear friend
Why did this happen again
Seems to be a reoccurring pattern that fails to see an end
So we deal with it every day.
Yet, you cause more strain to yourself
Going on and on about the same old stuff
As I pretend to not have heard it before
Yet you still remind yourself that you’re okay
As you tell all of us
You absolutely hate to see his face
But we all know you hide your pain
Beneath your confident ways
"I just want to be his friend”
“oh please oh please"
"I just need to see that face again.”

Hold onto yourself
Your worth more than he sold you out to be
Push away all those memories
Haunting you along the way
You know, they will only tear you down in the end
Over played the sad version you pretend
You’re stronger than you set yourself out to be
If only you could see
